While my favorite thing is conversation-killing (saying curt non sequiturs that bring conversation to a halt, i.e., "No one likes a showoff"), I have just today realized an even better one.

After receiving a text at midnight whose sole message was teh declaration that "I'm at the Knitting Factory", I now know to respond to ech and every text with "Who gives a shit?" This ESPECIALLY works if the person responds to a question you yourself asked, as in:

M: What time we meeting
J: 9PM
M: Who gives a shit?

Speculation

Yours truly stumbled about an extremely rare cactus for $6...actually, the place had a bunch of them for $6. Interestingly, the laws of supply and demand don't work the same way for collectibles since there's a lack of knowledge when things are that rare. Meaning, although the supply is extremely low, so is the demand--so price is not what it could/should be. Anyway, bought 3 of them for $33 shipped, and now sold 2 of them for $20 each.

Which should pay for the peyote cactus I ordered yesteday. Don't know how that was legally offered for sale--have never seen for sale in the US before.

I was going to buy the two following plants after earlier deciding against it, but I had forgotten why I had decided not to buy them. I remembered: they only look funny in their current proportions, and soon would just look like furry fans as they grew. Still, everyone who has seen these pics has had a pleasant reaction so check it out:

Instead I have en route to me: Baby Toes; Parenthesis Plant; Spiderweb Plant; Gumdrop Plant; Elf Slippers; Baton Bulb and something that is called Satsusatsu-no-Matsu in Japanese, which I have no idea what it means but it looks like it's carved out of Zest soap.

Email of the Day

some puerto rican dude picked up your phone. i think i have an old number. he may have called me a fag. not entirely sure. he did however ask me not to call again after my second attempt.

Had a job interview today, and the gentleman said, QUOTE, "You're obviously not from New York. Where did you grow up?"

Fortunately I managed to control my apoplexy enough to merely threaten to throw his monitor out the window. It turned out he went to my elementary school, and the woman interviewer grew up in Bensonhurst as well.

("You sound like you're from the Midwest," he added. I knew I shouldn't have drank that Old Milwukee at Cabetto's!)

For everyone who thinks Obama is inevitable, keep in mind that Hillary was inevitable, and that McCain was an inevitable loser for the nom, and that Bush was ahead of Gore in almost every single poll for weeks up to and including election day.
